A New Orleans roofer, not a national brand with a local number
This city has building stock spanning two and a half centuries, three separate historic commissions, a termite that eats roof framing, and a hurricane season. We work here specifically because doing it properly takes knowing all four.
Someone goes on the roof before anyone quotes a number
The single most common complaint about roofers in this city is a price quoted before anybody has looked. We do not do it, because the two things that decide the cost of a roof — the condition of the deck and the condition of the flashing — cannot be seen from the driveway or from a satellite image.
What you get instead is an inspection, a written scope with photographs of what we actually found, and a straight answer about whether a repair is worth doing. Sometimes that answer costs us the job. It is still the answer.
- Written, not verbal. Scope, findings and price on paper, with photographs, after someone has been up there.
- Historic work taken seriously. Slate and tile matched on color, size, thickness and profile — to the standard the HDLC and VCC actually apply.
- We say when it is not ours. If the water is entering from next door’s roof, or the problem is structural rather than a covering issue, we tell you that.

The part of a New Orleans roof nobody photographs: what the Formosans have done to the framing
Greater New Orleans spends an estimated $300 million a year on Formosan termite control and the repairs that follow. Formosan subterranean termites are specifically known to colonize roof framing, and colonies reach into the millions. Any roofer working this city who does not open up a suspect deck and look is not doing the job.
Where we find this, we say so and we stop. Structural damage of this kind needs an entomologist and, where load-bearing members are involved, a structural engineer — alongside the roofer, not instead of one. Laying a new covering over compromised framing hides a structural problem under a twenty-year warranty, and we will not do it.
